For Consumers
The green revolution was meant to benefit the climate, renewable generators, and consumers alike. But for most businesses, the reality has been rising bills, increasing complexity, and levies that leave your account every month with no visible return. You’re paying into a system you have no say in and no direct benefit from.
Licence Exempt Supply changes that. Not by changing your supplier, your contract, or how your business operates, but by removing your obligation to pay those levies entirely, and replacing it with a much lower charge.
Same energy. Same supplier. One additional authorisation.
And because of how the scheme works, UK renewable generation is supported as a natural consequence. Not funded by you. Just enabled by your choice. The green transition moves forward, and for once, it doesn’t cost you more to be part of it.

For Generators
You’ve made a significant investment in renewable generation. The policy framework was designed to support that investment, but the broader system it sits within adds layers of complexity, uncertainty, and schemes that stand between your generation and the clean, direct returns your business case depends on.
Licence Exempt Supply changes that. Not by changing how you generate, how you contract, or how you operate, but by creating a more direct route to the value your generation deserves.
Same generation. Same operation. One additional authorisation.
And because of how the scheme works, your renewable generation receives direct recognition of its value. Not filtered through the levy system. Not diluted by complexity. Just a cleaner, more certain return on the investment you’ve already made.

What does Licence Exempt Supply involve?

A licence exempt supply arrangement sits outside the standard levy framework. Your energy supply continues as normal, but the way it is classified changes, removing or significantly reducing your levy obligation. Nothing about how you use energy changes.

Do I qualify?

Licence Exempt Supply is available to businesses that meet specific criteria around their supply arrangement and consumption profile. The qualifying conditions are straightforward and we can confirm eligibility quickly, usually within a single conversation.

What do I have to do?

Complete a short authorisation. It allows electricity to be transferred directly to you rather than via your supplier, which is what creates your levy exemption. This is an administrative process that happens entirely behind the scenes. Your supply contract is unaffected. Your supplier relationship is unaffected. Your invoicing process is unaffected. You simply authorise the arrangement, and everything else continues exactly as before.

The levy system costs consumers money they shouldn’t have to spend. It undervalues the renewable generation the country needs. Licence Exempt Supply doesn’t fix the system. It simply lets you step outside it. Less cost for consumers. More revenue for generators. No compromise on either side.
