Our Story: We had ‘skin in the game’ before we had clients.
LG Energy Group, previously known as Local Green Energy, grew out of something unusual: it was a generator before it was a consultancy. LGE built an in-house trading desk to manage the output of its own anaerobic digestion plants and rooftop PV portfolio, selling back to the market on flexible contracts to maximise returns. When clients with generation assets of their own asked LGE to apply the same thinking to their energy costs, a consultancy grew naturally from that expertise. The advice LGE gives its clients today is the same logic it developed and stress-tested on its own portfolio, just applied in reverse. That origin shapes everything: a deliberately relationship-led business that tends to attract clients seeking more than a transactional arrangement. LGE manages over £1.4 billion in energy for clients across Property Management, Manufacturing, Retail, and the Public Sector.

Our People
Simon Rigby MBE – Co-Founder and Former Chairman
Simon was a formidable businessman and true entrepreneur, co-founding LGE in 2011.
A proud Lancastrian, Simon came from a dairy farming family and graduated from Hull University in 1983. He then joined the Yorkshire Electricity Board, with whom he qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1987. In 1996, Simon led the management buyout of the buildings and grounds maintenance services from Yorkshire Electricity, forming Spice plc. Simon built Spice up from 12 employees and a £3m contract to 4,500 staff and a turnover of £400m. Spice floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2004. Simon was Chief Executive Officer of Spice plc from its formation until 2010. In 2011, Simon became one of LGE’s founding directors, and his passion, vision and expertise laid the foundations for us to grow into the innovative, forward-thinking consultancy we are today.
Simon very sadly passed away in 2020, but his legacy lives on through all the work we do here at LGE.
Main Board
Asif Rizvi – Managing Director
Asif has an academic background in Environmental Management & Engineering. He began his career in Environmental Research in the Higher Education Sector, where he was involved in environmental awareness raising and sustainability research. In 2004, Asif moved into the Environmental Consultancy sector as a National Account Manager, managing core business in the rail sector.
Asif joined a large energy consultancy in 2007 and specialised in utility consultancy and energy procurement solutions. Here, Asif contributed significantly to business development and growth. Asif was appointed Managing Director of LGE upon its inception in 2011 – he is responsible for the P&L and general management of LGE, and today leads a team of over 50 staff.
Tom Flack – Chief Financial Officer
Tom is an ACMA- and CGMA-qualified professional accountant with 25 years’ experience in finance. Tom started his career with a national housing association and a market-leading distribution company, where he held senior positions.
Tom joined the Rigby Organisation in 2011 and has overall responsibility for the financial aspects of the wider organisation, including LGE. As an integral part of the team, Tom plays a key role in LGE’s strategic growth.
Victoria Rigby – Director
Victoria comes from a diverse business-oriented background. Having been awarded an Honours degree in Management from the University of Nottingham, Victoria has spent the last few years gaining experience across industry. This includes hospitality, child care and energy, giving her a broad range of knowledge, insight and expertise.
In 2020, Victoria became CEO of The Rigby Organisation and is now a valued member of LGE’s board.
Isa Cole – Director of Innovation & Development
Isa is an experienced Project Manager, having had roles within the financial and public sectors. Isa has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry, starting his career as a Business Analyst for a well-known supplier, where he managed payment infrastructure across suppliers. After several years there, Isa moved to a large energy broker, later becoming a Strategic Account Manager. His portfolio included NHS trusts, housing associations, retail chains and assorted manufacturing customers – he was personally responsible for procuring over £250m of energy per annum.
Isa joined LGE in 2012 as Head of Operations and now serves as our Director of Innovation & Development, specialising in systems, data and new energy products.
Dave Loveday- Director of Operations & Trading
David is a tenacious and conscientious Energy Manager with over 30 years of proven experience in both the wholesale and retail sectors of the UK electricity, gas, and emissions markets. He has worked with several large commercial organisations to optimise their energy procurement strategies whilst mitigating the inherent market risks.
As Director of Operations & Trading, David’s role at LGE is to ensure that client positions are effectively managed, being cognizant of a client’s budgetary aspirations and risk capacity.
Operational Board
Raymond Yeng – Head of Consultancy
Raymond started his mechanical and energy engineering career in East Asia, building biomass-powered plants more than 35 years ago. Since then, he has held a number of technical and managerial positions in the energy sector before joining LGE in 2014 as our Head of Consultancy, bringing with him a wealth of experience and qualifications. Raymond holds an MBA, is a chartered engineer, Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), a qualified ESOS lead assessor and a member of both IMechE and EI.
Raymond is an articulate, highly motivated, and practical Energy Manager and Engineer with direct experience as both an end-user and a service provider. His specialisms include renewable power generation, development of low carbon strategies and reduction programmes, project management, energy legislative compliance/strategy and performance-related energy contract management. A respected industry figure, he has also presented and provided training at a number of events held by sector associations, government bodies and the public sector.
Alex Sparrow – Director of Corporate Sales
Alex has a comprehensive background in sales and marketing across many industry sectors, including tourism and music. He was co-owner of ATHLETICO, a music events and record company where he worked internationally on projects for MTV and Armani, amongst others, and was Managing Director of Living Information Guides, a marketing company he ran in association with The British Chambers of Commerce in Spain and Portugal for 5 years.
Alex turned his skills to the energy industry in 2007, where he advanced his career, specialising in risk-managed energy procurement solutions. Alex was appointed Director of Corporate Sales at LGE in 2015 and has continually contributed to the business’s growth. He is responsible for managing and mentoring the sales team, as well as developing new strategies and products.
Luisa Fitzpatrick – Head of Commercial Development
Luisa joined LGE in 2015 and brings over 25 years of sales experience across diverse industries, including the Civil Service, debt management, and advertising. Having turned her attention to energy 20 years ago, Luisa began her career specialising in Retrospective Audits, working with framework agreements for public-sector bodies such as the NHS, councils and universities.
An experienced Sales Manager, Luisa heads up the Commercial Development Team, and her responsibilities include introducing LGE to new clients, identifying new target markets, and recruitment and training.
Becky Darlington – Head of Operations
Becky joined LGE in 2016 and brings over 25 years of experience in the energy industry across a variety of roles within operational departments, from data to procurement to reporting and account management.
In her seven years at LGE, Becky built the Reporting Team into a fully integrated, key part of the business before moving on to lead the Account Management team for three years. Becky is now responsible for the Operations department, bringing together a number of LGE’s key service offerings and ensuring that we continue to perform at the highest level for our customers.
