LGE have been working with the a leading food manufacturer & retailer since 2023. LGE’s support helps assist the client with their goal of providing a better way of doing business that is both for people and the planet and not just profit. LGE’s services include effective tendering & procurement, compliance with the CCA scheme, bureau services and voltage optimisation.

Tendering & Procurement:

  • LGE utilised its excellent relations with suppliers to engage with the whole market for a detailed approach which secured flexible contracts that met the client’s specific needs.
  • This included migrating the client onto a collective contract for Meter Operator (MOP), Data Aggregator (DA) and Data Collector (DC) services. LGE’s access to internal personnel at suppliers helped obtain the most competitive rates, saving £8,925 across the five-year contact term versus the client’s previous metering contracts.
  • Once the contracts went live, LGE’s proactive traders navigated the markets working in line with the trading strategy, and since trading began in April 2023, LGE have saved the client £994,332 against costs that would have been paid if a fixed contract was taken.

Climate Change Agreement (CCA) Scheme:

  • LGE have provided the client with a full-service provision for CCA compliance which has included data collection & monitoring, reporting CCA performance against targets, liaising with sector associations, assistance with forecasts and calculation of carbon buy-out.
  • Compliance with the CCA scheme has allowed LGE to ensure that the client continually obtains the benefits of discounted Climate Change Levy (CCL) rates.
  • These savings have equated to £120,364 annually, with a total 5-year contract value of £601,820.

Bureau Services:

  • Regular evaluation of usage and costs ensures that the client’s charges align with contracted rates and metered data.
  • Access to LGE’s Bureau Team who validate all the client’s invoices after initial checks on LGE’s database.
  • Production of position reports provides the client with regular viewing access to its hedged positions, trading activity and wholesale prices, whilst the production of cost projections to provide a detailed view of costs on a monthly and site basis, which assists with budget setting.

Voltage Optimisation:

  • LGE also helped the client with its sustainability targets through working with them on introducing Voltage Optimisation (VO) to lower bills, prolonging the lifespan of equipment and reducing carbon emissions by stabilising the flow of volts and reducing wasted energy from voltage being supplied to equipment at a higher level than required.
  • LGE worked with the client to calculate its optimum voltage and helped fit a custom voltage optimiser to reduce costs and emissions.
  • Access this technology allows on average a 6-10% reduction in energy usage with payback periods of 2-3 years.
